If you are developing Adsense websites, you probably have seen a couple of translation software offers just lately. Moving into foreign language markets is a good idea, but (there is always a “but” isn’t there?) I advise you not to rely on translation software to deliver you usable content.

I have been working in the German IT market since 1982, and I tell you this. Poor translations will not work. Software, such as Babelfish, Yahoo and others translate too literally and are not able to transfer the sense of the original text. This is also the reason why a lot of successful English language comedy films are not successful when translated for foreign markets.

I have tried all sorts of translation software over the years and none of them was any good. I tell you this because a poorly translated website will not get you the acceptance for your website you are trying to achieve, especially under German speaking people.

You will give the impression of not caring about what you put online and as soon as the reader gets into the first paragraph they are gone!

Let me give you an example of what can happen: A customer of mine who runs several German language travel websites wanted me to set up links for website translations into English and French. I told him the same thing, but he wanted it. So after setting it up we checked his statistics for 3 months. He did not get one sale from the automatically translated pages although people were clicking on the links.

Personally, I get turned off at the poor English language which you find on the Internet, especially from the US, so you can maybe understand people whose mother tongue is not English having to read these translations.

Don’t misunderstand me; I believe you can achieve a boost to your profits by presenting your content in several languages. I just wanted to warn you that using automatic translation software can backfire on you.

I installed this plugin, called “SEO for Firefox”, just two days ago. It a fantastic tool which fits in to your Firefox browser and extends your search capabilites! You won’t believe the information you get on keywords or each search result on your page. You get the PR, incoming links, the website age, number of Technorati and Delicious links and much more.

The Keyword Research link shows you a list of related keywords with values from Google, Yahoo, Overture and you won’t believe the rest of the information you get.

Ads on my Blog?

I have been looking at several different ways to make money with my blogs. The classic method is to add Google Adsense to the templates. You can see the one I set up on the right in the template.

But there are other companies offering advertisement inventories which you can add to your website similarly to Adsense. I use WordPress for this blog and there are several plug-ins which enable you to add any sort of ad code to your blog postings just choosing an entry from a drop down list.

Of course the code has to be entered into the database to be available. But once it has been added, you do not have to worry about formating the code again.

I have tried other code, such as Chitika and they work just the same as Adsense. It certainly makes life a lot easier.

Blogging Tools

Just today I discovered a very useful blogging tool called Qumana. As you can see, this is my first post with this tool.

Qumana also offers ad inventory through it’s product called Adgenta. The ad at the bottom is the first one supplied by Adgenta. This is a very interesting and easy to use combination.

The Qumana software allows you to post to all of your blogs, regardless if they are Blogger, WordPress or any other type of Blog. You can add images and HTML quite easily. I will be trying audio and video files some time soon.

As far as the ads are concerned, you can place them anywhere inside of your posts and they will appear within your RSS-feeds. One point which I like, is the ability to give each ad it own specific keyword or phrase. That enables you to target the ads more specifically. This is an ideal way of targeting ads for your niche website.

One other valuable function that Qumana offers is the easy insertion of Technorati tags. One click and you have it. Technorati Tags : ads, adsense, qumana, chitika

One last thing, which will please a lot of people, is the post to e-mail function which Qumana offers. You can send a HTML e-mail, including ads, to one or more recipients at the click of a button.
